Wednesday Workout Update

I don't have much to report on this week - we spent the weekend in Dallas visiting Allie, so we didn't run on Saturday, and yesterday I was on my own for my run...and while I had a plan, it didn't end up being much of a run.  Since I was going to meet Jenny at the park for our weekly walk, I decided to get there about 45 minutes early and do my run - sure, it would be a little later in the morning, but I don't like running in the dark by myself, so this was my best option.

I got there and decided to try running half a mile without stopping, and I did, but it was rough going.  Of course, I didn't do any kind of warm up walk beforehand, and it was nearly 80 degrees with high humidity, so conditions weren't conducive for a good run, regardless.  I walked another half mile or so after that run, and then from a distance, I saw Jenny pulling into the parking lot, so I ran to meet up with her.  That felt like an entirely different run - in a good way - so obviously I need to A) warm up; and B) know that for me, running just sucks in the beginning.

We ended up walking 3.25 miles; I wish I could force myself to get out and do that several times each week, on top of whatever running I do, but I have met the enemy and that enemy is me, to badly paraphrase Commodor Perry's quote...or in other words, I'm still too lazy for my own good.

We have a sweet little 5K race on Saturday and I think most of our Renegades are running it, so that should be fun; after this race, there's nothing on the books until September.  Racing season in Texas is very short compared to other states, thanks to our stifling hot weather.  That doesn't stop us from running, though I'm not sure what that says about us - we are the crazy people who pretty much run year-round, but now that I think about it, most runners are crazy, so I guess this is pretty much normal.
