Expand Your Comfort Zone
We avoid exercise because it’s not comfortable, but if we expand our comfort zone a little at a time, we can make exercise something we’re comfortable with, after a little repetition. -Zen Habits

Riding My Bicycle 100 Miles for a Cure
With my dreams of becoming a marathon runner dashed, I have been looking for a new event to enter. I need something to shoot for, something to train for.
A friend of mine suggested going in a "century ride." What is that? Basically it is what it says it is: you ride your bicycle 100 miles.
On May 3, 2014, I will be reporting to Columbia, SC for the Tour De Cure, to benefit the American Diabetes Association.
Diabetes has affected my family and friends directly and is a terrible disease. 8.3% of the American population has diabetes...and 79 million people are pre-diabetic, meaning the disease is set to explode in the coming years. Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure and amputations. (source: American Diabetes Association.)
But we can do something about it. I'll make you a deal: I'll ride the 100 miles on my bicycle and you can donate as little as $5 toward the cause. (Also check with your employer to see if they match charity donations to double your donation.)
Thanks for your support!
